Global Positioning Surveys
Leading-edge instruments, innovative problem solving ideas and experience are all integral parts of our successful Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Services. We have a strong quality control and assurance program, which we use as a means of measuring our performance.
With GPS, positions on the earth's surface can be quickly and accurately located by measuring distances to orbiting satellites. This is done by determining the time required for radio signals broadcast by the satellites to travel to the points in question. Once the positions of the various points (in coordinates or latitudes and longitudes) are determined and proper corrections applied, the distances between them can easily be computed with accuracies which can approach or even exceed 1/1,000,000.
TOPOGRAPHY
With our GPS receivers we can easily perform surveys of developed areas, topography of open fields, wetland, other large open areas. When accompanied with an ATV or a boat, a GPS receiver can become a highly efficient data collection tool.
REMONUMENTATION
GPS is now commonly used for Remonumentation of many county programs. GPS accompanied with county GIS programs are a very effective way to provide information to the public.
CONTROL SURVEYS
We are MDOT Pre-qualified to perform Ground Control Surveys for MDOT Design Survey. These control surveys can be used for data collection or as control for aerial photography. SSI will use this type of survey as a control base to many different surveys.
CONSTRUCTION STAKING
GPS also allows for very fast and effective layout on a construction site. Horizontal and Vertical positions can be loaded into a GPS receiver and used anywhere on the job site.
BOUNDARY SURVEYS
SSI is the Sole Proprietor of the Arenac Geodetic Reference Network. As a service to our valued clients we take it upon ourselves to reference all surveys to this high precision control network, thereby fixing all property boundaries, topographic, and road alignments to this network. Other surrounding counties are being worked on at this time to further our GPS services.
CELL TOWER LOCATIONS
Latitude Longitude and Elevation can be obtained using GPS, making this a great tool for use on Cell Tower Sites and FCC 2c Certifications.
